2012 – Differentiating between time spent and time invested

There is one thing that is common to all mankind. One universal gift from God or nature whatever you believe in. Whether you are male or female, old or young, married or single, a public servant or a privately employed worker, a professional or a labour worker, an entrepreneur or an intrapreneur, a student or a graduate we all have been given 24hours in every day for all the days of our lives. We go to bed at night and wake up the morning of the next day, go to work or school come back home or go out clubbing or relaxing. CHARACTERISTICS OF A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS

A successful business has characteristics (just like living things) that stands it out from a business that is dead, about to die or is just surviving. The characteristics of a successful business is the same as that attributed to living things except for one part – whereas living things grow old and die, a successful business grows and does not die. TALENT AS A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Every one of us was born with a unique talent (a special ability) that stands us out of the crowd, with it we noticed and identified. Michael Jackson was born with a voice and talent of dancing, Tyra Banks was gifted with a body ladies would die for and the camera loves, Mark Zukerberg created an

LITTLE DROPS OF WATER OR A DRUMFULL OF WATER: The best way of doing business

Why? Basically, the main reason behind this (as research has shown) is corruption, a hunger for quick success, lack of trust and accountability, personal gratification for amassing liabilities instead of assets. A contract will be signed to that effect.” But no! The Nigerian Businessman would insist on an once-in-a-lifetime fee that will be gone in a flash due to expensive living and not continuous flow. PRACTICAL DAYDREAMING: A TOOL TO PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

What stands these two men out however is that they are ARTISTS. Not musicians or anything that has to do with media, I mean painters. They draw and paint! Esref’s case is so overwhelming because he has never seen colours and does not know what red looks like neither can he differentiate blue from green nor can he tell you what a dog or a flower should look like. He was born blind and yet he paints!

THE BACKBONE

Without the right kind of people it would be a hard sell for the business to grow or to even takeoff. My people say that “a tree does not make a forest” very apt and this also goes for any company. The founder of the business alone cannot help the business to succeed.

WHAT HAST THOU IN THE HOUSE?

She had to ensure that the debt moved to the income chart and in other to do this she was asked to “go, borrow vessels abroad of all your neighbors, even empty vessels, borrow not a few”. I am sure that she probably went to neighbors close to her and she borrowed less than a thousand vessels. After borrowing she was to lock herself in and get to work! Pour the oil (what she had in the house) into the vessels (that which she borrowed from neighbors). Long story short, the oil stopped pouring when the vessel had run out.
